Promoting Tourism in Uganda
Professionalizing Tour Operators via Marketing & Communication!
Increasingly East Africa is a destination on the wish list of many Western tourists. A visit to the Maasai in Kenya, climbing the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania or visiting the ruins of Gondar and Lalibela in Ethiopia are real attractions. However, Uganda is less well-known as a holiday destination for the general public. However, the country offers numerous fabulous sights and experiences with the presence of the rare Mountain Gorillas, the source of the well-known River Nile and the opportunity to spot the Big 5.
Therefore, Exchange entered into a long-term partnership with the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) with the aim of strengthening the tourism sector in Uganda. The association is of vital importance to defend the interests of Tour Operators and to raise the level of professionalization in the sector. A professional marketing & communication policy is therefore essential to provide a good service to their members. That is why Exchange expert Bart De Swaef supported the association with their marketing & communication policy so that AUTO can better inform its members and assist them with their start-up and growth!
But also the members of AUTO, the Tour operators themselves, received attention. Bart facilitated a high-quality Marketing & Communication training for 2 different groups. The training sessions were spread over 2 days per group and took place in the well-known Hotel Africana. The enthusiastic reactions of the participants strengthen our confidence in the cooperation between Exchange and AUTO. The first step towards professionalization has already been taken!
