My first introduction to Africa was as a geology student on an internship for my thesis in Burundi. Ever since Africa has not let go of me.
After several years of professional experience in Belgium, I left as a computer scientist for several years to Burundi with a Belgian NGO, and later as an expert for the United Nations in other countries.
After 8 years of experience as an expat abroad, I returned to Belgium, where I spent most of my career in various ICT management positions at the largest telecom company in Belgium.
I got to know Exchange vzw. in 2018 as a volunteer coach for the waste management program in Witzenberg in South Africa, a program that I still continue to coach.
I am grateful to have now been asked by Exchange to work as a programme manager for South Africa, together with a great team of passionate volunteers, to help support entrepreneurs in South Africa, and to exchange expertise between North and south. After all, South Africa is an extremely beautiful and fascinating country with a lot of potential and also the engine of economic development in southern Africa.
My spare time goes to singing in some vocal ensembles, jogging in the local jogging club of the municipality of Boechout, fitness training and recreational cycling.
